1 billion likes and followers globally across all league, team, and player platforms. Through NBA Cares, the league addresses important social issues by working with internationally recognized youth-serving organizations that support education, youth and family development, and health-related causes.

Position Summary :

This position will play a key role in the continued growth and expansion of NBA Brazil / Mexico and Latam region by leading the sponsorship sales, account management, and new business strategy, working on new digital projects (creation and sales - content, gaming, metaverse, NFT and crypto knowledge are important skills).

Also managing the day-to-day relationships with NBA Brazil's / Mexico's global and local marketing partners. In the commercial area, it is required to have a track record in prospecting, pitching, negotiating, developing, and executing long-term relationships to engage the partner through partner-marketing activities and contractual deliverables.

Experience / connections with other markets would be a plus (Colombia, Central America, and the Caribbean for the Mexico position and Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay for the Brazil position).

Major Responsibilities :

  • Manage the day to day relationship with the NBA global and local marketing partners to ensure they have the best possible partnership experience
  • Identify potential new partners aiming to engage them to invest in the NBA
  • Maintain constant communication and constructive relationships with the account teams based on the NBA New York office to :
  • 1. Stay aligned regarding all the conversations with current global partners, from Mexico / Brazil to NY and vice versa

    2. Identify potential upsell opportunities for current global partners based on existing NBA Mexico / Brazil assets

  • Keep fluent communication and positive relationships with the international business development team to ensure that they are aware of all the NBA Mexico / Brazil assets, so they consider them in their proposals for potential global partners
  • Work closely with the current partners to understand their plans, objectives, targets, fiscal years, and additional important information, with the objective of getting ahead and presenting them with congruent and engaging NBA opportunities, either for activation or a potential upsell
  • Inform promptly all the marketing partners of the benefits they have contracted for each of the NBA Mexico / Brazil local platforms and follow up with them regarding their activations plans around those, so they can leverage them effectively
  • Maintain constant communication with the multiple NBA Mexico's / Brazil's platforms producers, events teams, agencies, and other areas involved to ensure the correct delivery of all the marketing partner's contracted benefits
  • Ensure connection and collaboration with other regional staff to be aware of their own plans and identify potential assets that could be interesting for marketing partners
  • Meet constantly with current marketing partners to either discuss plans or to present results / recaps
  • Keep track of the expenses related to marketing partners' activation / implementation versus the budget designated each year
  • Work with the US MP / media team to ensure the successful implementation of the marketing partner's media plans
  • Work with the licensing / merchandising team and NBA official vendors to execute each of the marketing partner's merchandising funds and deliverables
  • Submit all the marketing partner's creative materials for internal approval through the correspondent system (BR)
  • Deliver all contractual ticketing demand, distribution, process, and control
  • Proven track record in developing new business (strong focus on digital projects) in the sponsorship industry
  • Knowledge of BI analyses of existing and new digital projects including content, gaming, metaverse, NFT, and crypto; Entrepreneurial, creative mindset, and ability to find local business / new products and opportunities that fit with NBA strategy (strong focus on digital assets), not only in Brazil / Mexico but also in Colombia, Central America, and the Caribbean for the Mexico position and Argentina, Chile and Uruguay
  • Responsible for moving internal processes forward after a potential partner agrees to a proposed term sheet. This includes working with Compliance / Finance (Due Diligence Process) and Legal (Contract negotiations)
  • Keep track of all the deals and make sure that information is updated in our internal Deal Memo System
  • Keep track of each marketing partner's payment status and follow up with them to ensure they pay their fees on time, and keep track of the expenses related to the marketing partner's activation / implementation versus the budget designated each year
  • Required Skills / Knowledge :

  • A minimum of 5 years of prior experience in a similar field
  • Commercially minded and results-driven with a track record of securing high-level partnerships for rights holders within sports / entertainment
  • A clear understanding of the general business and sponsorship landscape both from a local and global perspective
  • Preference to have experience in more than one (Brazil / Mexico) Latam market
  • Connections with key executives in the industry are a plus
  • Deep understanding of financial reports and projections
  • Excellent communications / presentation skills, both written and verbally
  • Great social skills to be applied both internally and externally
  • Self-motivated, dedicated to achieving results
  • Analytically and negotiation skilled
  • Ability to work through specific goals and be able to achieve those under pressure
  • Team player capable of collaborating with other key areas
  • Storytelling skills through visual and written communication, and conceptual selling
  • Digital projects track record on previous jobs
  • Education :

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing / Advertising / Management or relevant work experience
