About MLex : MLex is an independent media organization providing exclusive market insight, analysis and commentary on regulatory risk in the US, Europe, Asia and Latin America.
We have a track record of uncovering regulatory risk before it breaks in other news outlets, and offering up-to-the-minute coverage of regulatory threats and opportunities from the perspectives of M&A, antitrust and data privacy and security.
MLex is looking for a reporter to cover the antitrust, data protection and antibribery beats in Brazil and other Latin American countries.
The successful candidate will work alongside MLex’s senior Latin America correspondent and other colleagues around the world, but should also be able to pitch his or her own story ideas.
The candidate should be comfortable with working in a fast-paced environment, conducting interviews with sources on a daily basis, and working under tight deadlines.
Accurate writing and an eye for detail are also important qualities.
The job requires fast and accurate reporting of diary events as well as scoops on MLex’s areas of coverage. The candidate must therefore have both the discipline to monitor these areas and the interpersonal skills to develop relationships with sources.
There will also be opportunities for initiative reporting and writing commentary and analysis on relevant topics.
Applicants do not need a background covering antitrust, data protection or corruption. But they should demonstrate curiosity about these topics and be willing to learn about them in depth.
The candidate must have fluent English, including in writing, as MLex stories are published only in English. Native or fluent Portuguese is also required, while Spanish is desirable.
