Facebook is seeking talented and flexible counsel to work on Facebook’s LatAm Legal team and advise the company on a range of regulatory, privacy and data protection for the Latin American region.
The role is broad and, among other things, involves representing the company before regulators, advising internal clients on various legal risks and obligations under regional privacy laws and driving cross-
functional initiatives across the business involving a variety of complex legal and / or regulatory issues.
This requires the ability to both work independently and with large multi-stakeholder teams. We are looking for someone with sharp analytical and communication skills, who is diligent, proactive, collaborative, and has demonstrated legal and business judgment and strategic thinking.
This is a full-time position located in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Respond to regulatory inquiries and investigations, and draft regulatory filings, coordinating such responses with global positions.
Work with outside counsel, policy, and international legal colleagues to support regulatory matters and to track evolving legal requirements across LatAm.
In coordination with Facebook’s global privacy program and policy team, support the development and management of relationships with privacy regulators across LatAm.
Support litigation possibly arising out of regulatory inquiries and investigations.
Evaluate the impact of legislative, regulatory, legal developments and industry proposals in LatAm involving privacy and security across Facebook's services and companies.
Manage LatAm specific internal privacy compliance programs and processes to ensure we meet our obligations under those programs and as part of our global privacy program.
Assist product lawyers in evaluating impact of privacy laws, regulatory guidance and enforcement actions, and other related guidelines on product features.
In-depth knowledge of legal issues in the area of the operation of online social media platforms and deep understanding of the new Brazilian LGPD.
Brazilian Bar Association Qualified.
12 or more years of relevant legal experience, including at a law firm and / or prior in-house experience with internet or technology companies (applicable litigation, regulatory, or product counseling will be considered).
Experience prioritizing work and providing advice under deadlines.
Experience advancing projects in a multi-stakeholder environment.
Experience in participating and engaging in industry events.
Fluency in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
Experience with global privacy laws, regulations, and industry guidelines, especially including those relevant for social media and Internet companies.
Experience with privacy regulators across LatAm.
Post-graduate or LL.M degree.
