The Business Analyst is responsible for defining, researching and documenting the specific product requirements that meet the market and strategy needs.
This Business Analyst will work on Encompass with a specific focus on the next generation solution. You will work closely with Product Managers, UX, Engineering, Compliance, Technical support, and Clients to analyze current functionality, identify additional requirements that address compelling business challenges, and define detailed requirements.
Primary Responsibilities / Objectives :
Develop deep understanding of the product area that they are supporting.
Conduct research to solidify detailed feature requirements through user stories and / or functional specifications.
Convert large epics or user stories into smaller, detailed user stories that developers, user experience, and quality assurance resources can digest.
Coordinate with sprint team to ensure understanding of product requirements, prioritization of work to be developed, tested and ultimately released, deliver enhancements and bug fixes.
Maintain up to date knowledge regarding mortgage industry and technology trends as well as the Ellie Mae product line and competitor products.
Create the stories and Epics as well as the associated use cases that will form the basis for the release content.
Ensure that UX counterparts always have the latest, and concise list of requirements which they can use to create a corresponding UX Strategy that executes on the product plan.
Engage with development to ensure they understand the use cases, review the technical design, and, come up with a story break down structure that makes sense for the sprint team & the e release goal.
Write consistent, clear, and concise EPICS and user stories for each item referenced in the release plan, working closely with their UX counterparts to ensure UX-
specific requirements are included as well.
Collaborate almost daily with UX counterparts and Dev / QA team to ensure stories are aligned with the evolving user interface and technical design.
Participate in scrum teams to answer team questions, ensure the requirements are understood and assist in providing any additional documentation to ensure a successful development and work closely with engineering and user experience teams and escalate key issues as needed.
Support Sales, Client Management and Technical Support with escalations.
Assist Technical Publications with the generation of client support documents.
Work with sales, customer service and customers to understand issues and minor enhancement requests as needed.
Report status of features in progress, adjust focus and attention as priorities change
Demonstrate functionality while in development and once completed.
Ideal Qualifications, Experience, Education :
3+ years of Business Analyst experience required.
Must have experience developing and detailing software product requirements & user stories in an agile environment, ideally for enterprise SaaS applications.
Technical / programming knowledge.
Solid understanding of software development lifecycle and experience working with enterprise class solutions.
Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, or an engineering discipline required. MBA preferred.
Detail-oriented, with an eye for user-centric design, and a passion for technology & how it impacts end user workflow Considered a big plus if you have mortgage banking experience, especially within operations management, underwriting, or loan origination system administration.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience working with cross-functional teams, including product management, development, quality assurance, support, marketing and sales.
Flexible and able to adapt within a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
