Responsibilities

Provide Brazilian tax advice on Company upstream operations.

Provide tax and strategic advice for Company tax audits; provide tax planning advice (federal, state and municipality);

and provide tax / legal advice to the Tax Compliance Unit and other Tax Planning Groups.

Review the economics of the Company upstream projects to assure that all Brazilian tax assumptions are correct.

Review Company upstream contracts from the Brazilian tax point of view, assuring that the tax planning is implemented, avoiding tax exposures.

Monitor, analyze and implement changes in the tax legislation for all Brazilian taxes which impact in the Company upstream business.

Support on the build, design of the changes in the system, as well as perform tests, if needed.

Strong knowledge on the preparation of all tax compliance activities in order to review the taxes’ calculation and tax returns;

support in the calculation and optimization of the tax compliance processes.

Review the calculation of the taxes involved in import transaction (international charges) related to Company upstream business, assuring compliance with Brazilian tax rules.

Provide tax support to Company upstream business in Brazil in the issuance of invoices (Notas Fiscais).

Provide Brazilian tax guidance for transfer pricing related to Company upstream business in Brazil, as well as support in the calculation of the transfer pricing, if needed.

Obtain tax certificates for Company entities.

Keep aware of the international tax treaty to avoid double taxation and tax exposures in the transactions involving Company upstream operations in Brazil.

Proficiencies

Lawyer degree with solid knowledge of Brazilian upstream tax legislation.

15+ years’ experience in Tax with strong preference for candidates with prior experience in upstream O&G.

Strong knowledge of all taxes that would impact in the upstream business, and tax compliance activities. Good expertize in REPETRO regime.

Knowledge of US tax principles, unitization, economic models etc.

Prefer with background in accounting.

Fluency or Advanced level of Proficiency in English.
